Once the territory is defined, you need to prepare the space properly. Keep bowls for water and food. Put a clean little box as well. A cat never shares its things at first. This may end up in territorial issues. You can also put soft items in that place. Soft towels, blankets, carpeted scratching posts, etc will be perfect. These things absorb the fragrance of the new cat. Therefore, it helps them to get habituated to your home. Gradually, it starts filling the home like its own.

Eating together makes a strong bond in cats just like humans. Letting the cats feed together while keeping them apart physically is a good technique to introduce them to each other. To reduce stress, feed two cats in two separate rooms. This way, every cat can sense the presence of the other while eating. As a result, they start enjoying their mealtime together. Also, they will be less aggressive with each other.

Cats behave nicely with others of the same age. However, the problem is with older cats. They lack both energy and patience. That is why they can't even tolerate a playful young cat. As I have mentioned earlier, a cat is quite serious about its territory. Cats only feel most comfortable in familiar space. You need to choose a completely different spot for your new cat. The place should not be frequented by the current Kitty. A closed room should be perfect for a new cat. Such as a walk-in closet or an extra bathroom. The spot should also be separated from the place where the current Kitty visits. You need to allow two cats to get used to each other gradually.

If yes, take a thick blanket to pick up the cat. Otherwise, the cat can lash out and scratch you. Block the access tightly. Don't let the cat go behind shelves or under the bed. This way, you can prevent your little companion from getting trapped.
